Bangladeshi terror group member arrested near Pune
Pune : Policenama Onlince – In a joint operation, officials from Maharashtra and Bihar Anti-Terrorism Squads (ATS) have arrested a 19-year-old youth from West Bengal, who worked in Chakan area as construction laborer, for allegedly being associated two Bangladeshi terrorists arrested in Bihar few days back.
The arrested accused has been identified as Shariyat Anwarulhaq Mandal,who claims to be resident of Bajipur, Panchayat Gajna, Nadiya district in West Bengal. Based on request from Bihar ATS, officials from Maharashtra ATS detained Mandal on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Bihar ATS officials arrived here and arrested him. He was produced before the Pune court which granted his transit remand for being taken to Bihar.
Two days back Bihar ATS had arrested Khairul Mandal and Abu Sultan, both from Bangladesh, who are members of the banned organisation Jamat ul Mujahedin Bangladesh (JMB) and Islamic State Of Bangladesh (ISBD). ATS had seized photocopies of letters related to deployment of central armed police forces in Jammu and Kashmir after the Pulwama attack besides fake voter identity cards, PAN cards, and ISIS posters from them. The duo had traveled in several parts of the country and tried to recruit youths and establish sleeper cells. After getting tip-off from Intelligence Bureau (IB), the duo were arrested near Patna railway station on early Monday morning. During interrogation, it was found that Shariyat who worked in Chakan, was in contact with them.
The JMB is said to be involved in bomb blast at Bodh Gaya on January 19, 2018, when Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama was present in the town. A couple of crude bombs and large quantity of explosives were also recovered from the place.
