Rajkot : Fire in ICU ward of Uday Shivanand Covid Hospital, 5 dead

Rajkot : Five people have died in a late night fire at Uday Shivanand Covid Hospital near Anand Bangla Chowk in Rajkot. A total of 33 Corona patients were being treated at this private hospital. The other rescued patients have been shifted to another hospital. The police commissioner and the mayor rushed to the spot following the incident. Police Commissioner Manoj Agarwal said, ‘This is a very sad incident. The Chief Minister is in constant touch with us. Action will be taken against whoever is responsible.”
The fire brigade received its first call about the fire at 12.20am, a fire brigade official said. It may be mentioned that 5 patients were burnt to death in the fire at Covid Hospital. However, not a single MLA, including the Rajkot city collector had come there.
The nursing staff has witnessed the incident, but is not willing to speak. According to the information received, when the fire broke out, there was a sudden boom in the ward and then smoke started erupting. For a while I didn’t know what to do or not to do. Doctors from another hospital rushed in shortly after. Tried to save patients by breaking some window glass.
According to sources, the fire is believed to have been caused by a shot circuit in the machinery on the second floor of the hospital. Uday Sivananda Kovid Hospital was sanctioned from September.

In this case, RMC Opposition Leader Vashram Sagthia said, “The fire broke out due to a short circuit in the preliminary investigation. The hospital had all kinds of fire facilities. But they could not make a fire system or use them. This whole incident is tragic for Rajkot.’
The remaining patients were shifted to another hospital: DCP
In this case, DCP Zone-2 Manohar Singh Jadeja said, “The fire is now under control. In addition, 22 patients from other wards of the hospital have been shifted to another branch of Uday Hospital.”
