ACB Pune arrests ASI, a private person, books PI for demanding Rs 2 lakh bribe
Pune : Policenama online The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested an assistant police sub-inspector (API) and a private person while it has booked a police inspector (PI) for demanding Rs 2 lakh and accepting Rs 1.5 lakh bribe. The two police officers are attached to the Lonavala rural police station.
The accused have been identified as PI Pravin Balasaheb More (50), ASI Qutubuddin Gulab Khan (52) and Yasin Kasam Shaikh (58). Khan and Shaikh have been arrested.
The complainant owns a gas agency. Khan demanded Rs 2 lakh from him for not taking action against his firm. They reached a compromise and the bribe amount was fixed at Rs 1.5 lakh. PI More encouraged ASI Shaikh to take the bribe. The complainant lodged a complaint with the ACB, Pune. It was verified. A trap was laid on Friday night. Shaikh was caught red-handed. An offence was registered.
The action was taken under the guidance of ACB, Pune SP Rajesh Bansode and Addl SP Suraj Gurav. DySP Vijaymala Pawar, PI Pravin Nimbalkar, ASI Mushtaq Khan, police personnel Ankush Ambekar, Saurabh Mahashabde, Puja Dere, Damodar Jadhav and driver Chandrakant Kadam participated in the action.
