ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar awarded by Union Home Ministry for his outstanding contribution in probes

Pune, Feb 15 (UNI) – Director General of Police Maharashtra Rajnish Seth on Wednesday presented the medal and honour to ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar (Crime) which was received from Union Home ministry for his outstanding contributions in investigation of a case related to a 5- Years old minor girl.

 

Mr Khirgaonkar who worked rigorously in resolving a case of minor girl who was raped and murdered by a accused who was the resident of Parbhani district of Maharashtra.

 

Later the District and Sessions Court of Parbhani awarded death sentence to accused who brutally murdered the five-year-old girl.

For his good investigation, the Home Ministry had declared him medal and same was presented to him by Maharashtra Director General of Police Mr Rajnish Seth today.

 

This incident was taken place in shelgaon of Parbhani district a few years ago. The investigation of this brutally murder of minor girl was given to Narayan Shirgaonkar by Maharashtra government.

 

The final investigation report were present to court in which it was clearly stated that accused first raped the minor and then he murdered her. Her body was dumped in a well by the accused.

 

Due to the recent Kopardi incident and the sensitivity of this incident, public outcry, the investigation of this crime was handed over to Narayan Shirgaonkar who was on duty at Gangakhed taluka.

 

The Shirgaonkar submitted a charge sheet to the court by connecting the chain of investigation on the basis of physical evidence when there was no eye witness in this crime. Within three years, the court sentenced the accused to death and the victim got justice.

Shirgaonkar was honored with a medal by the Director General of Police on Wednesday for his excellent investigation into the crime, police said.

 

Shirgaonkar said all have shown theirs faith on me by awarding me a medal today which also gives me inner satisfaction for the work done in the police force.

This success was not possible without senior guidance and team mates.

Shirgaonkar said while extending his thanks and gratitude to seniors and juniors.
