Ajit Pawar gives AB form to Nawab Malik despite BJP opposition
Mumbai: The BJP had criticised NCP leader and the then Minister Nawab Malik in the MVA government for his alleged connection with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his involvement in a money-laundering case.
Later, Malik was freed on bail and joined the NCP (AP) led by Ajit Pawar, who crossed over to the Maha Yuti government. The BJP opposed giving the poll ticket to Malik from the NCP (AP).
Earlier, Ajit Pawar gave candidature to Malik’s daughter Sana Malik from Anushakti Nagar. After she filed her nomination, Pawar also gave the AB form to Nawab Malik on the last day of filing the nominations. This sensationalised the matter.
Tuesday (October 29) is the last day of filing nominations. Candidates of all political parties would be known by Tuesday afternoon. Nawab Malik is ready to contest from the Shivajinagar-Mankhurd Assembly constituency as an independent. Sources said that Ajit Pawar gave him the AB form. Some news channels also reported this.
Thus, it is interesting to know if Ajit Pawar fields another candidate from the constituency or declares Malik as the party’s official candidate. By giving Malik the AB form, Pawar indicated that Malik would be the party’s candidate from Shivajinagar-Mankhurd. People are eager to know how Ajit Pawar would deal with the BJP over the issue.
Every poll candidate has to submit Form A and Form B, along with the nomination form. The AB form provides all necessary details about the poll to the candidate. Form A is given to the Election Commission by a political party to nominate a candidate in the poll. It has details such as the name of a political party, its symbol and the name of the candidate.
