Nashik : Policenama onlineAjit Pawar on IPS Deepak Pandey | The powers of Revenue Department officials are like RDX and detonator which give rise to a live bomb which obeys the instructions of the land mafia. The land mafia harasses the common man with the connivance of revenue officials and poses danger to their lives and property. These allegations were made by Nashik Police Commissioner Deepak Pandey in a letter sent to the DGP. The ripples created by the letter reached the cabinet meeting and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed his unhappiness about Pandey’s letter.

Ajit Pawar read out the letter in the cabinet meeting. “Who gave the right to a police officer to write such a letter?’’ said Pawar in the meeting.

Deepak Pandey had written a controversial letter to the DGP.

“As has been done in Nashik district, along with Thane, Pune, Aurangabad and Nagpur, Naxal-affected areas like Gadchiroli, Gondia and Chandrapur districts should be declared as police commissionerate. Since there are 2-2 mechanisms, the magistrate branch at the district magistrate office and the magistrate branch at the police commissionerate have similar work. Hence, the magistrate branch at the district magistrate office should be merged with the police commissionerate and the rural police should be merged with the police commissionerate. This will help in saving resources and the powers of executive magistrate should be taken away from revenue officials,” Pandey had said in the letter.
