Pune : Policenama onlineAjit Pawar On Pune Rural Police | Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday said that the Smart Policing programme started by the Pune rural police is a good initiative and it should be effectively implemented all over the state.

The inauguration of the subsidiary police canteen, inauguration of renovated Bhimashankar cultural centre, dedication of 10 four-wheelers received by the police as a part of Dial 112 programme was done by Pawar and Home Minister Dilip-Walse Patil. On this occasion, District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, SP Dr Abhinav Deshmukh and Fiat India company’s President Ravi Gogia were present.

Pawar said that technological changes are happening with time. This is good but some people are misusing it. Hence, the police force should also make use of new technology. Emphasis is being laid on providing the basic infrastructure for modernisation of the police force. The rural police have been given Rs 2 crore from the district planning committee in 2020-21 and Rs one crore in the current year. The Pune city police, Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerate and rural police will be given Rs 12 crore under Dial 112 programme for purchasing vehicles.

A sum of Rs 15 crore is being spent on the construction of police stations and other buildings. In the state also, along similar lines money is being given through the district planning committee for basic infrastructure. Recently, the MLAs’ development fund has been hiked to Rs 5 crore. Of this, 10 pc i.e. Rs 50 lakh has to be spent on government buildings’ construction and repairs as per the norms. For policemen, efforts will be made to implement the earlier housing plan.

The petrol pumps constructed in Pashan and on Baner Road out of police welfare fund are getting a good response and in Baner, CNG facility has been started and this will help in collection of more funds. In the future, there are plans to provide e-vehicles to the polie department and electric charging stations will have to be started, he said.

In this era of competition, the children of policemen should get excellent marks and succeed in life. The scholarship provided by the Fiat company will be useful for the policemen’s children. The Pune rural office has become the first office to use the e-office system in the state and this is a good development, Pawar said.

Walse-Patil said Maharashtra police has a manpower of more than two lakh personnel. During the corona pandemic, police officials performed their duties without worrying about their or their family members’ lives. Many policemen succumbed to coronavirus infection. The state government firmly supported them. Their families were provided a Rs 50 lakh grant and one person in each family was provided a job on compassionate grounds.

The state government took an important decision which will help many policemen to become PSIs by promotion. In the health scheme for policemen, 19 new diseases have been included apart from existing 39. A positive decision will be taken regarding the housing scheme for policemen, he said.

“Even if there is an adverse situation, I as home minister will always support the police department but the police should ensure that the law and order is maintained in society. There will be no compromise on this,” he said.

Instead of only constructing a building, it is necessary to mould the lives of students and financial aid is necessary at the right time. The scholarship provided by the Fiat company will be useful, he said.

SP Dr Deshmukh informed during his speech that for Dial 112, of the funds of Rs 1 crore provided by the district planning committee, 10 four-wheelers and 12 two-wheelers have been purchased.

The petrol pumps started from the police welfare fund have earned a profit of Rs 1 crore. In the district, the work of constructing new buildings of 16 police stations is underway. Fiat India has so far given scholarships of Rs 81 lakh to 147 students.

The renovated Bhimashankar cultural centre is given for weddings of family members of policemen, birthdays and other cultural programmes at a nominal charge, he said.

The inauguration of the e-office system adopted by the Pune district rural police and the CNG station at the Baner petrol pump also took place.

On behalf of the Fiat company, the distribution of scholarship cheques to deserving students also took place. Gogia also expressed his views on the occasion.

Additional SP Milind Mohite, Additional SP Dr Mitesh Ghatte and officials and personnel of the police department and their children were present.
