Pune : Policenama online Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Pune today. During his visit, Modi inaugurated a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the PMC. He also inaugurated the Pune Metro project. During his speech Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar took potshots at Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari for the latter’s comments on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Pawar said, “People occupying high positions are making unnecessary comments which is leading to unfortunate developments. No person in the state will agree with this. If anyone makes a comment against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule, then nobody will accept it. I am saying this without being narrow minded. The development of Pune has to be done without indulging in politics.”

“Like the ongoing work of the Pimpri-Swargate stretch of the Pune Metro, efforts are being made to prepare the project report of Swargate-Katraj and Hadapsar-Kharadi routes. In the present metro project, the contribution of the state government and the Centre was 50 per cent each and the civic body has made 10 pc contribution. We need help on similar lines. Because of you and Nitin Gadkari, we should get help for metro projects in Mumbai, Nashik, Nagpur and Pune. We want your cooperation to increase the pace of development. All should work together without being influenced by politics,” he added.

“The beautification of two important rivers in Pune i.e. Mula and Mutha should happen. However, the work will have to be done without affecting the sources of water and the environment. The flood lines should also be considered while doing the restoration of the rivers,” he added.
