Ajit Pawar warns legislators over Omicron virus in state assembly
Mumbai : Policenama online – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Wednesday drew the attention of the House towards an important issue during the winter session of the state legislature. He alerted the legislators present in the House over rising cases of Omicron virus. He also mentioned a possible lockdown in this regard.
Pawar said, “Discussions are on at senior level, national level to clamp the night lockdown. The legislators present here are not wearing masks, with some exceptions. The entire State is watching us all. If we do not wear masks, it sends a wrong message. I speak with my mask on. If anyone faces difficulty speaking, they can remove it while speaking and put it on again.”
Underlining the situation abroad, Pawar said, “The number of Omicron patients is growing by one-and-half times daily in other countries. WHO has predicted five lakh deaths due to Omicron. We should think about Maharashtra and India. Some things need to be told then and there. We should realise the seriousness of the issue. Please evict all those who do not wear a mask. You can act against me if I do not wear one. I request you all to observe caution.”
Following his request, the speaker asked the legislators to put on masks. He conceded a concession of removing the mask only while speaking.
