Beed | Enraged monkeys kill 250 puppies in Beed district

Beed : Policenama online Enraged monkeys have spread terror at Lavul village in Majalgaon taluka of Beed district for past one month by killing puppies. The villagers informed that the monkeys take the puppies one by one to trees and roofs of the houses and drop them below.

The monkeys have thus targeted and killed 250 puppies in one month. The villagers are concerned as the monkeys are now targeting school children now as they hardly find puppies in the village.

A few days ago, a dog had attacked an infant of a monkey killing it instantly that made a group of monkeys furious.
The group of monkeys with an aim to take revenge is killing puppies whenever they spot them.

Now, that the puppies are depleting in number and hardly seen, the group is focusing on school children. A monkey had nabbed an eight-year-old grandchild of one Santram Shinde recently and taken to the rooftop of a house. He was saved as the villagers noticed it on time. They somehow managed to drive away the monkey leaving the child behind.

A team of forest guards was called to catch the monkeys but in vain.

 

Pune | Supreme Court lifts ban on bullock cart races in Maharashtra

 

Pune : Policenama online The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday allowed holding of bullock cart races in Maharashtra on the basis of the amendments made to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the rules made under it.
The path for bullock cart races has been cleared after almost seven years.

Reacting to the decision, State Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil said,
“Farmers were upset over the ban on bullock cart races in the State.
Finally, the SC has allowed organisation of bullock cart races in the State.
Today, I feel happy for farmers.”…
