BJP’s failure in the last 5 years exposed during G20 meeting – Prashant Jagtap

Pune : Policenama online Pune NCP News |  Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) city unit president Prashant Jagtap, held a press conference on the beautification work done on the occasion of G20 conference, raised some questions and objections. (Pune NCP News)

“On the occasion of the G20 conference, representatives and ministerial groups from 20 countries around the world came to the country. Pune is one among those cities in the country where meetings are held. The Nationalist Congress Party welcomes the representatives. The Pune civic administration tried to change the look of the city in 15 days to welcome these foreign guests. But the NCP has objected to the overnight development being done by the Pune Municipal Corporation just to show off. Only to hide the failure of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the last five years, the Municipal Commissioner has literally started a cover-up.”

“Today, on the occasion of the G20 conference, the PMC struggled to improve the condition of the city. The only reason for this is the neglect of the infrastructure services of Puneites by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the last five years.”

The roads, footpaths and flyovers of the city were painted in a hurry. In many places, for the first time in the last five years, garbage was cleaned. At many places, garbage was covered with curtains. In short, guests were misled. The annual budget of the PMC is Rs 10,000 crores. Although it requires a few thousand crores to fill the backlog, the state government sent only Rs 50 cr. Pune is Asia’s fastest growing city and one of the top five GST paying cities in the state, an IT hub, the cultural capital of the state. Things that were not done in the last 5 years for the convenience of Puneites, who pay taxes regularly, have been done for these guests. The photos of certain party leaders looked comical.

The road in front of the Pune airport has also been covered with curtains. Some places on Senapati Bapat Road, where these guests are accommodated, have also been covered with shed net cloth. The Municipal Commissioner has done all this to cover up the failure of the BJP’s representatives in the last five years, who filled their pockets by squandering the tax money of Puneites only through awarding tenders to the contractors of their choice. The NCP is going to do a live broadcast at one place every day to bring down the curtain on the inferior works. The NCP is going to show Puneites all the places where their tax money has been squandered, the facilities from which the people of Pune have been deprived in five years.”

MP Vandana Chavan said, “G-20 is an international conference. It is a government programme. It is a matter of pride for India to get its presidency. But the BJP is politicising it through the central government. The administration is also following them. The council meetings are being held in Pune and even the MPs and MLAs of Pune have not been invited. The central government has to listen to what the representatives have to say about their own city. But it seems the civic administration is under pressure. When asked the Municipal Commissioner about our involvement as an MP and the directionless beautification in the city, a surprising response came that ‘everything is good’. This is a government programme. So how did the BJP set up a coordination committee for that? If a political figure would be undesirable, then why should the head of this so-called coordination committee participate directly in the conference? How is he given a position there?” NCP spokesperson Pradeep Deshmukh was also present at this press conference.
