PUNE: Bullock Cart Race | The Supreme Court today delivered an important verdict about bullock cart races. Since the SC has allowed organisation of bullock cart races with some conditions, there is a joyful atmosphere in the state. However, the political temperature in the state has increased over the race to claim credit for the SC verdict. Shirur MP Dr Amol Kolhe raised this issue in the Parliament and BJP MLA Mahesh Landge also took up this issue. Now, after the verdict, a status war has broken out between supporters of Kolhe and Landge.

Kolhe’s supporters have kept the status ‘Our man did it’ and Landge’s supporters have kept the status ‘Our champion has done it.’

Bullock cart races are considered very prestigious in Maharashtra. The economy of many villages is dependent on these races. Hence, MLA Mahesh Landge did a follow-up on the issue with Deputy CM Fadnavis and in the court through All India Bullock Cart Association. MP Amol Kolhe raised the issue in the Parliament. Some days ago, Landge had demanded the splitting of Pune district into two districts.

Kolhe had replied that instead of creating a new district, efforts should be made to improve basic infrastructure. Now, the supporters of Kolhe and Landge are at loggerheads over claiming credit on this issue.
