Kolkata : The CBI, which is investigating the illegal coal mining and smuggling case, on Sunday issued a notice for questioning to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, MP and Trinamool Congress President Abhishek Banerjee’s wife Rujira Banerjee. The team from the agency reached Shantiniketan, Abhishek Banerjee’s residence in Kalighat area.

Abhishek has been given notice earlier. However, later it is said that the notice is in the name of his wife Rujira. At that time, Abhishek’s wife was not present at home, so the CBI officials left the telephone number along with giving notice there and said that as soon as she comes, she should be asked to call. But she did not call the CBI till late in the evening. According to CBI sources, a notice has been issued under section 160 of the CrPC on Abhishek’s wife to file a statement as a witness.

Some important information has been received by the CBI in the economic transaction in the coal case, in which Rujira’s name has also been revealed. CBI wants to interrogate Rujira Banerjee for the same information. She does not have to appear in the CBI office. According to her convenience at her residence, the CBI wants to record her statement.
