He told the police that after quarreling over his marriage proposal, he got infuriated and attacked her throat with a cutter four times. She started bleeding. Then he hit her with a stone.

Sources said that Rahul told cops that he did not kill her intentionally. They were studying together for the MPSC exams. He had proposed her. He also helped her in preparing for the exam. She rejected his proposal after she got selected in the exam. He was furious over this and wanted to kill her. The police are checking the CCTV footage related to the incident.

Darshana had passed the MPSC exam with distinction. Her murder shocked people. Her decomposed body was identified by her belongings that were lying at the spot.

The post-mortem report stated that she was killed due to wounds in her head and body. Her body was found at the foothills of the Rajgad fort on June 18. It was learnt that she had gone trekking there with Rahul. He was arrested in Mumbai late on June 21 night.
