Since the announcement of the bypoll, the banners displayed in Kasba Peth have grabbed the eyeballs. The MVA candidate, Ravindra Dhangekar, has alleged that God is being used for political purpose. The post states, “If their speed of distributing gold and silver continues like this, then each Ganesh mandal in Kasba Peth will become rich. Mr Trustee, stop using Lord Ganesh for your political gains.”
Dhangekar is targeting Hemant Rasane without mentioning him. Rasane is the trustee of Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati. Dhangekar has alleged that Rasane is distributing gold and silver to each Ganesh mandal to secure votes of their members. It remains to be seen how BJP responds to these allegations.
Although the contest is between Hemant Rasane versus Ravindra Dhangekar, it is being seen as a face-off between BJP and MVA. Both the parties have made special arrangements for the election.
The election is being considered as prestigious for the BJP. After the change of guard in the state, this is the first time that BJP and MVA will be facing each other. Since the CEC has allotted the name Shiv Sena and the bow and arrow symbol to the Shinde faction, the repercussions are being felt in the bypoll. MVA leaders are severely criticising BJP and the Shinde faction on this issue. Hence, the Kasba Peth bypoll has become a keenly contested election.
