Ex-min Sunil Kedar sentenced to 1 yr imprisonment for assaulting govt official

Nagpur, Jan 13 (UNI) – Ex-min Sunil Kedar | Nagpur district court on Friday sentenced former Maharashtra minister and senior Congress leader Sunil Kedar and three others to one year imprisonment for assaulting power company official in 2017 in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district. (Ex-min Sunil Kedar)
Additional sessions judge Mangala Mote found MLA Sunil Kedar and other three guilty of charges under section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging of his duty) of the IPC.
The accused were sentenced to one year imprisonment and was slapped a fine of Rs 14,000 each.
According to detailed report, in 2017, a dispute erupted between farmers and officials of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (MSEDCL) over laying a transmission line in a village in Nagpur district.
Kedar along with his supporters had gone there to settle the dispute. But, the matter became worse and he assaulted government official of the MSEDCL Amol Ghonge.
An offence was registered against him at Kelwad police station in Saoner.
