Fake IAS posing as PMO Secretary arrested in Pune

Pune, May 31 ( UNI): A person posing as an IAS officer attached to the office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. (PMO) as Secretary has been arrested in Pune, police said on Wednesday.

The fake IAS officer has been identified as Vasudev Nivruti Tayde (54), a resident of Talegaon Dabhade, Pune. He used to tell people that he was gathering secrets information on behalf of the Prime Minister’s office.

For the past four to five years, he has been moving around the city claiming to be an IAS officer and working in the Prime Minister’s Office in Delhi, said Senior police Inspector Shabbir Sayyed of Unit one of Crime Branch.

Sayyed said Yayde was not invited but had attended a programme organised by Borderless World Foundation in Aundh on May 29. The inauguration ceremony of sending an ambulance to Jammu and Kashmir to help the people of Kashmir was held at Aundh where Tayde was present and introduced himself to people as a IAS. The programme was organised by Viren Shah, Suhas Kadam, PK Gupta and other trustees and members of Borderless World Foundation.

Finding Tayde’s behaviour, suspicious, the trustees called tSayyed and narrated the whole incident.

Initially, Tayde gave a fake name ” Vinay Dev” and told the people that he holds the rank of IAS and is currently posted as Duty Secretary in Prime Minister’s Office, Delhi. He further said that he came to Pune for gathering some confidential information. Later, Mr. Tayde left the venue and went to Talegaon Dabhade.

Sayyed traced Tayde immediately and detained him from his house in Talegaon Dabhade. During the police interrogation, Tayde admitted that he is not an IAS. Police investigation was on. UNI SP. SSP
