Pune Crime News | Accused in cheating case, wanted by Mumbai police, arrested by Pune Crime Branch officials in Somwar Peth

Navi Mumbai : A shocking incident has rattled the Mumbai Police Force as six individuals, posing as members of the Mumbai Police, reportedly robbed a businessman of a staggering sum of Rs 2 crore. In a development that has sent shockwaves in Mumbai police, a 55-year-old police inspector stands accused of involvement in the brazen heist, leading to his arrest on Monday, April 1.

The harrowing incident unfolded on March 29, when the victim, a 54-year-old businessman, was en route from his residence in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, to Turbhe MIDC in Navi Mumbai. Around 2 to 3 pm, the businessman found himself intercepted by six unidentified individuals near Palm Beach Road in Vashi, who cunningly masqueraded as officers of the Mumbai Police.

Under the guise of law enforcement, the perpetrators proceeded to intimidate the businessman, falsely asserting that they had received multiple complaints regarding his possession of a substantial sum of money. Threatening to implicate the businessman and his family in fabricated charges, the impostors demanded a staggering Rs 2 crore from him to avert purported legal action.

In a chilling turn of events, the victim was coerced into accompanying the assailants to a flat in Vashi, where he was subjected to verbal abuse and further threats before the perpetrators absconded with the substantial sum of money.

Following the incident, the victim immediately lodged a complaint at the Vashi police station on March 30, prompting a swift investigation by Police Inspector Sanjay Nale of the Vashi Police Station. Shockingly, during the course of the investigation, evidence emerged implicating Police Inspector Nitin Bhikaji Vijaykar in the heinous crime, leading to his subsequent arrest.

Vijaykar, a 55-year-old resident of Prasad Apartment, Bhandup West, Mumbai, now faces a slew of charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including robbery, abduction, criminal intimidation, and criminal conspiracy.
