Farmer’s Protest : 814 crore revenue loss in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan

New Delhi : The National Highways Authority of India has lost revenue of Rs 814 crore in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan due to the farmers’ agitation against the three new agricultural laws of the Center.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari presented the data till 16 March in the Lok Sabha on Monday. Gadkari said that the farmers had made toll points free and this has caused a huge loss to the government. To compensate for this, states have been asked to re-establish them.
He said, due to farmer agitation, tolls in Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana suffered the most. The maximum revenue loss of 487 crores was in Punjab, followed by Haryana with 326 crores and loss of revenue of 1.40 crores rupees. The minister said that apart from these, there was no revenue loss due to farmer agitation in any other state.
