FIR of molestation registered against IPS Nilesh Ashtekar in Pune; Widow claims he sought sexual favours from her
PUNE : Policenama online – IPS Nilesh Ashtekar | A shocking incident has come to light from Pune. An FIR of molestation has been registered against IPS officer Nilesh Ashok Ashtekar, a resident of Ambegaon, Pune at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. The complaint states that he had sought sexual favours from a 31-year-old widow staying in Kalwa, Thane. The FIR has been registered under sections 354-A (2), 354-A (3), 354-D, 509, 67 and 67 A of the IPC. (IPS Nilesh Ashtekar)
The woman stays in Kalwa and she has a Facebook account. IPS Nilesh Ashtekar had sent a message to her on Facebook Messenger on February 19, 2023 at 6.45 pm. Ashtekar was not known to the woman but from the profile photo, she thought that he was a responsible citizen. Hence, she replied to his chat. Later, they started chatting. They got to know each other and started communicating regularly.
Nilesh Ashtekar called her on FB Messenger and introduced himself as an IPS officer posted in Pune. He asked her whether she wanted to join the police force. She told him that her sister’s son was preparing for the police entrance examination. She told him that he had failed in the Mumbai police recruitment drive. Ashtekar told her that he will ensure that her sister’s son gets a job in the police. Later, Ashtekar took her number.
On February 22, 2023 at 5.20 pm, Ashtekar made a WhatsApp call to her and asked her about her family. He told her that police recruitment was going on and he will get a job for her in the police. He tried to get close to her. He demanded sexual pleasure many times through WhatsApp messages and calls. He started sending her obscene photos and messages. The woman was in touch with Ashtekar only because she wanted her sister’s son to get a job in the police.
On February 27, 2023 at 10.56 pm and 11.03 pm, Ashtekar made a WhatsApp call to the woman. He was naked and asked her to undress. The woman was shocked after hearing this. Ashtekar sent obscene messages to her and sent URLs of vulgar videos.
On March 1, 2023, Ashtekar made a WhatsApp call to the woman and started talking in a vulgar manner. He told her to send her daughter to him for a night. Later, Ashtekar spoke to her in an obscene manner. It has been mentioned in the complaint that Ashtekar was communicating with her from his residence and office. Later, the woman lodged a complaint with the police.
Based on the complaint, an FIR of molestation was registered against Ashtekar on May 2, 2023.
ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar is carrying out a probe into the case.
