Former MLA Mohan Joshi demands panchnama of Smart City works, sends letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray

Pune : Policenama online – The Vice President of the state Congress, and former MLA Mohan Joshi, has demanded in a letter sent to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray that the works carried out in Pune under the Smart City project should be probed and a panchnama should be carried out and placed before Puneites,

During the UPA government, development works worth
Rs 1,500 crores were carried out through the JNNURM. The Modi government closed Manmohan Singh’s effective scheme and introduced misleading and fake schemes like Smart City. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Smart City programme in Pune. However, in the last six years, the scheme has failed miserably in 100 cities including Pune. Hence, it is necessary to do a panchnama to examine the success and failure of the scheme, said Mohan Joshi in a press release.

The first phase of the Smart City project has not been successful in Pune. However, works have been carried out via funding from Centre, state government, PMC and MPs. How the funds were spent and what works were completed? It is necessary to probe this. This scheme has proved to be a failure in Pune.

When the Centre realised that the scheme was proving a failure, it tried to wind up the scheme. The Congress had raised its voice against it. At present, the scheme has been extended and works are being done in a hurried manner. A panchnama of the people’s money spent on a failed scheme should be done and wasteful expenditure should be avoided, Mohan Joshi has said in a press release.
