Pune Crime News | Four, including Chetan Balwadkar, booked for extorting Rs 29 lakhs by threatening builders

Pune : Policenama online Pune Crime News | Pune: A case has been registered against four persons, including Chetan Balwadkar, who extorted Rs 29 lakh and demanded Rs 24 lakh more by threatening to stall the construction work of a building in Balewadi and to defame a builder on social media platforms.

 

Chetan Subhas Balwadkar (35), Rohan Subhas Balwadkar (33) both from Balewadi, Sagar Vasant Balwadkar (35) from Dhayari and Aditya Dattatray Hagwane (33) from Kondhwa Budruk are the accused in this case.

 

A businessman living in Karve Nagar lodged a complaint at the Chatuhshrungi Police Station. They were torturing him since April 7, 2022.

 

According to the police, a transaction took place between the father of the complainant and the accused over a place. The transaction was completed. Thereafter, the complainant started the work of a new building at Balewadi. The accused came to the site often and threatened to stop the work. Moreover, they tried to defame the complainant by posting some stuff on social media about the place like its survey number is wrong and the site is bogus, etc.

 

The accused were demanding ransom from the complainant by threatening to shut down the site. From time to time, they extorted Rs 26.75 lakh and Rs 2.50 lakh through RTGS. Earlier, they had demanded one BHK flat in the housing project at Balewadi. Later, after realising that the complainant is scared, they demanded two 3 BHK flats. Moreover, they were also demanding Rs 24 lakhs more.

 

Fed up with this harassment, the complainant lodged a complaint with the Anti Extortion Cell. His complaint was investigated by Senior PI Balaji Pandhare.

 

The police have registered a case. PSI Chalke is investigating further.
