Heavy rain alert again for Raigad, Ratnagiri & Kolhapur; Yellow alert for 6 districts including Pune

Pune : Policenama onlineHeavy rain in Maharashtra caused havoc in some districts. The meteorological department has warned of rains again as life in the flood-hit districts is returning to normal. Raigad, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Satara and other flood-hit districts are likely to face heavy rains once again. The meteorological department has forecast rains till July 30 and has issued yellow alerts to six districts including Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune and Kolhapur. On the last day of the month, Raigad, Ratnagiri rains are expected to intensify and an orange alert has been issued.

Heavy rains lashed some districts of Konkan, Western Maharashtra and Marathwada in the state. Heavy rains caused floods in western Maharashtra and Konkan. However, after the rains have receded, the flood waters are receding and life is slowly returning to normal. Meanwhile, the flood-hit district is expected to receive heavy rains again by the end of the month. The meteorological department has forecast torrential rains and a yellow alert has been issued for Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Satara, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur and Thane districts today (July 27) and tomorrow (July 28).

Orange alert on July 29 and 30

In the next 48 hours, heavy rains are expected in the district and heavy rains are expected on July 29 and 30. The meteorological department has issued an alert for Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune, Satara and Kolhapur districts. Besides, yellow alert has been issued for Palghar, Thane and Sindhudurg districts.

What do Red, Orange and Yellow Alerts mean?

Red Alert –
Red alerts are issued to alert citizens after a natural disaster strikes. This alert means people should keep themselves and others safe and not go into dangerous areas. Red alerts also have the potential to cause major damage in a natural disaster.
