History-sheeter Yogesh Jagtap killed in firing in Sangvi

Pune : Policenama online – Habitual criminal Yogesh Jagtap, a resident of Sangvi, was killed in a firing in Sangvi on Saturday. He was admitted to Aundh hospital where he succumbed to bullet injuries during treatment.

The firing took place at around 9.30 am at Kate Puram Chowk in Sangvi. According to the police, a Datta Jayanti programme was going on at Kate Puram Chowk, where Jagtap was standing in front of a medical shop. Two bike-borne assailants fired four rounds of bullets at him. He collapsed on the spot and was rushed to the hospital. However, he died while undergoing treatment.

The Sangvi police rushed to the spot when they learnt about the incident. They have recovered empty cartridges from the incident spot. The exact reason behind the firing could not be ascertained.

Meanwhile, the firing in broad daylight has shocked local residents. Senior police officials visited the spot. Pimpri Chinchwad Crime Branch officers were also present at the spot.

The police are tracking the assailants with the help of CCTV footage in the area. Sources said the attackers have been identified.

Jagtap was a criminal on police records. He was externed from the area. Senior PI Sunil Tonpe is guiding investigation in the case.

MPSC students to extension of one year to appear for exam

Pune : Policenama online  – The state government has issued an ordinance giving a one year extension as ‘one time special case’ to students who want to appear for MPSC examination but have crossed the age limit.

This will be applicable for those who have crossed the age limit during the period from March 1, 2020 to the time of the issuing of the ordinance. They will be allowed to appear for the examinations conducted till December 31, 2022. This will benefit thousands of students.
