Increased movement of leopards in Warje: MLA Siddharth Shirole asks government to take concrete measures

Shirole raised the issue through a point of information. On Monday morning, the sighting of a leopard in New Ahire village in Warje had created a flutter among citizens. After two hours, the Forest Department officials were able to tranquilise the animal. However, the citizens are worried after the incident, Shirole said.
Forest Department officials feel that the leopard may have entered the are through the jungle near the National Defence Academy. Earlier also, incidents of leopards moving around in the area have been reported. Shirole said that the government should take concrete action to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
