Jejuri fort and temple to be revamped; funds of Rs 110 crore approved

Mumbai: Policenama online The Jejuri temple of Lord Khandoba, which is the one of the most important deities in Maharashtra, is going to be redeveloped and revamped. A meeting held under the chairmanship of CM Uddhav Thackeray sanctioned funds of
Rs 109.57 crore for the first phase of development of the temple. CM Thackeray instructed officials that the work should be done by an organisation which understands the archaeological importance of the temple.

 

Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, PWD Minister Ashok Chavan, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, MP Supriya Sule, MLA Sanjay Jagtap and other officials were present. Apart from the conservation of the temple on the Jejuri fort, other temples in the area should also be protected by the Archaeological Department.

 

In the first phase of the development, apart from the maintenance of the temple and the fort, water management work is also going to be undertaken. The cleaning of stones in a scientific manner, removal of dangerous structures, refurbishing of the plaster, stopping water leakage, electricity and water supply, waste water disposal and management, drainage facility, machine to collect dust, solid waste management, facilities for pilgrims, crowd management, emergency management and other environment friendly measures will be undertaken.

 

Ajit Pawar said, “A permanent arrangement should be made to prevent growing of trees on the fort. The stones should not be painted and should be kept in the original condition. These activities should be carried out from the funds of the district planning committee. Ashok Chavan said that archaeological experts should supervise the work carried out on the fort.
