Jumbo Covid hospital in Pune to be closed, says Ajit Pawar

Pune : Policenama onlineDeputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar issued instructions on Saturday that since the COVID infection is under control, pre-primary classes should be started and the Jumbo Covid hospital should be closed after February 28. Pawar was speaking during the Pune district Covid management review meeting held at the divisional commissioner’s office on Saturday.

 

It was attended by Chief of zilha parishad Nirmala Pansare, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh and others.

 

Pawar said that after closing the Jumbo Covid hospital, the area should be restored to its original position. The equipment should be used in hospitals of PMC, PCMC and rural areas. The citizens should continue to use masks as per the Centre’s guidelines until the COVID pandemic is fully under control.

 

The timings of the gardens and shops should be restored to their earlier timings. The vaccination percentage in rural areas of 60 plus citizens with comorbidities should be increased, he said.

 

Saurabh Rao gave a presentation about the Covid situation in the district. In the last seven days, there has been a decline of 51 per cent in new cases in the district. There has been an increase of 85 lakh in the vaccination of those above 18 and an increase of 49 thousand in the 15-18 age group. One crore 72 lakh people have been vaccinated in the district. Fifty eight per cent people in the 60 plus age group with comorbidities have been given the booster dose, he said.

 

MLA Dilip Mohite, MLA Chetan Tupe, MLA Sunil Tingre, MLA Siddharth Shirole, PCMC Commissioner Rajesh Patil, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Chief Krishna Prakash, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Pune ZP CEO Ayush Prasad, SP Dr Abhinav Deshmukh and other officials were present.
