Kasba Peth and Chinchwad by-elections: MNS decision to support BJP increases MVA worries

The MNS has supported the BJP in Kasba Peth and Chinchwad constituencies. The BJP has nominated Laxman Jagtap’s wife Ashwini Jagtap from the Chinchwad by-election while Hemant Rasane has been nominated from Kasba Peth. When the campaign started, the MNS had not announced its support to anyone. Finally, on Tuesday, the party announced its support to the BJP candidates in Chinchwad and Kasba Peth. The Mahavikas Aghadi’s (MVA) concerns have increased due to the decision taken by the MNS.
The MNS will not participate in the campaign. Discussions have been held at senior level between the MNS and the BJP. However, MNS leader Babu Vagaskar said that his party will not participate in the BJP’s campaign. MNS chief Raj Thackeray issued instructions to help the BJP. Vagaskar said that the talks were held at the senior level.
Important developments took place on Tuesday as the MNS took this decision. The BJP leaders went to meet MNS leaders. Pune BJP leader Muralidhar Mohol and Madhuri Misal met MNS leaders. It is said that they sought MNS support in this meeting.
Triple fight in Chinchwad
In the Kasba Peth by-election, the BJP has nominated Hemant Rasane, bypassing the Tilak family. Laxman Jagtap’s wife Ashwini Jagtap has been nominated in Chinchwad. The MVA has fielded Ravindra Dhangekar from Kasba Peth constituency. Therefore, there will be a direct fight between Dhangekar and Rasane in Kasba Peth. In Chinchwad, the NCP has nominated Nana Kate. Whereas Rahul Kalate is fighting as an independent candidate. So, there will be a three-way fight in Chinchwad.
