The arrested lawyer has been identified as Vikram Bhate (35), a resident of Hadapsar and an FIR has been registered against Nidhi Dixit (25), a resident of Wagholi. A 42-year-old businessman from Magarpatta City has lodged a complaint (493/23) at the Hadapsar police station. The incident took place at Season Mall, Nidhi Dixit’s house and Vikram Bhati’s office.

According to the police, the complainant is a businessman. He along with his friend and the latter’s girlfriend had gone to Ployhigh restaurant in the Season Mall. A girl approached their table and made an acquaintance by asking for a lighter. She told the complainant that her name was Nidhi Dixit and she had come to Pune from Mumbai and would require his help for doing business and took his mobile number.

Later, she started talking with the complainant on WhatsApp calls. On November 7, she took the complainant to her flat in Wagholi by telling her that she wanted to talk about business. She went into the bedroom and came out wearing a transparent night dress. She took 4-5 selfies by sitting next to the complainant. Later, she again went to the bedroom. She came out wearing another dress and asked him why he had come there and told him to leave. The complainant got scared by her changed behaviour and he left her house and blocked her number.

On November 15, advocate Vikram Bhate called the complainant from Nisha Gupta’s mobile. He told the complainant that Nidhi Dixit had complained about him and he would not get bail. Bhate told him that he would help him to ‘settle’ the case. Bhate told him to give ₹8 lakh. The complainant told Bhate he did not have so much money. He gave gold chain and locket totalling six tolas to Nisha Gupta and told her to mortgage it with Muthoot Finance and give the money to Bhate. Later, Nisha Gupta gave ₹1.60 lakh to Bhate. Later, Bhate kept on threatening them that they would not bail in the Supreme Court and collected money from time to time. Later, Nisha Gupta told the complainant that Bhate, Nidhi Dixit and Vaibhav Shinde blackmail people and extort money from them. She said she had been told to extort money from the complainant but Nisha refused to do so. The complainant understood everything and lodged a complaint with the police.

The police have arrested Bhate and PSI Sontakke is probing the case.
