Mumbai : Policenama onlineThe state government will issue permission to the private hospitals to give booster doses, said Maharashtra Minister for Health Rajesh Tope. The decision was taken at a meeting headed by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, held in the wake of a surge in Covid cases in the state.

The members of the task force, planning department, health and other concerned departments were present. The preparedness of the state to handle the rise in cases and measures to curb it were discussed. Tope said the number is doubling since the last three days but the good news is that 90% people are without symptoms and only 1 % patients need to be admitted. Even though the fully vaccinated people are affected, the severity is far less, he said.

The government has no intention of lockdown as of now but restrictions will be stricter. The attendance of government offices will be brought down to 50% to 75% and wherever possible ‘work from home’ will be allowed, he said.
