Maharashtra is not safe for women: Supriya Sule
Pune: NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule has expressed outrage over growing sexual assaults on women in the city. Two school girls were inappropriately touched by their school van driver in Wanawadi a couple days ago. A young woman was sexually assaulted by three persons when she went with her friend to Bopdev Ghat on Thursday (September 3) night.
Sule has posted a message on her X handle: “Outrageous! What is this happening in Pune? A young woman was gang-raped in Bopdev Ghat. Crime against women is rising across the State. The State Home Department is not doing anything to stop it. It is unfortunate that Maharashtra is not safe for women. The government should immediately arrest the culprits and take strict action against them.”
According to the details received, the 21-year-old woman went to Bopdev Ghat with her friend. Three persons sexually assaulted her. An offence has been registered against three persons at the Kondhwa Police Station. Two days ago, a young woman was kidnapped in a car while she had gone to Bopdev Ghat, along with her friend.
The accused threatened to kill the woman. He molested her and then abandoned her before escaping. Now, a rape has occurred in Bopdev Ghat. The victim hails from Surat while her friend is from Jalgaon. Both of them are studying in a city college.
They went to Bopdev Ghat on Thursday night on a two-wheeler. At around 11 pm, three persons accosted them and raped the young woman.
