After PI Vasudev More took charge of the rural police station, illegal businesses have mushroomed everywhere. The sale of gutkha, spurious liquor increased manifold. Illegal clubs and gambling dens are thriving and anti-social elements are calling the shots in the area. Gangsters and anti-social elements regularly frequent the police station and are given VIP treatment whereas the common man is getting insulting treatment. Not a single action against the illegal businesses was taken during his tenure. However, many controversial events have happened in the police station.

The ACB has registered cases against two policemen. A policeman has been suspended for selling the seized gutkha. It is unthinkable that More, being the chief of the police station, is unaware of all these activities. There were murmurs that the policemen were indulging in these activities because of More’s support.

More carried out a raid on a factory manufacturing spurious liquor in Varapgaon Shivar on July 8 and showed that goods worth Rs 3.5 lakh had been seized. However, on the next day, a team from the state excise unit raided the same place and seized goods worth Rs 2.25 lakh. When the police had raided the factory earlier, how did the excise department found the goods? More, who had mentioned in his report that the main accused was absconding, was found during the raid on the factory conducted by the excise department.

There were accusations that More had avoided mentioning the name of the owner of the illegal factory. Hence, questions were raised about the action taken by the police. There is speculation that a large amount of cash changed hands in connection with the case.
