Blow for Pawar, Maharashtra State Wrestling Association dissolved
Pune: Policenama online – The Maharashtra State Wrestling Association (MSWA) headed by NCP supremo Sharad Pawar has been dissolved. It is learnt to be a blow for Pawar. The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) took this decision. The move follows non-adherence to the WFI’s direction for not holding the competition for the age group of 15 to 23.
The decision was made in the WFI’s annual meeting in Delhi. Meanwhile, it was learnt that an ad-hoc committee would be appointed. The action was taken after receiving complaints from district bodies and some wrestlers.
BJP MP Brijbhushan Singh is the president of the WFI. Vinod Tomar is its secretary. Pawar is the president of the MSWA while Babasaheb Landage has been its secretary for the past 40 years. Wrestlers from Pune had agitated against Landage’s style of functioning. They had also complained about him to the WFI. It is said that the WFI is likely to be reconstituted after this move. The MSWA organizes the Maharashtra Kesari wrestling competition.
