Man tries to prove that sister is mentally sick after she has love marriage and withdraws ₹4 lakh from her bank account; Woman professor lodges complaint

Pune : Policenama onlinePune Crime News | A man tried to prove that his sister was mentally sick because she had a love marriage against the wishes of her family members. An incident has come to light wherein he withdrew ₹4.19 lakh from her account and cheated her. (Pune Crime News)

 

A 29-year-old professor staying in Fursungi has lodged a complaint (492/23) at the Hadapsar police station. Accordingly, the police have registered an FIR against Vivek Devendra Tiwari (35, a resident of Kashigaon, Mumbai. The incident took place on January 9 and 10, 2023.

 

According to the police, the complainant hails from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh and is working currently as professor in Pune. When she was staying at her parents’ house in Mumbai, she fell in love with her siter-in-law’s brother. Her family members opposed their alliance. The complainant ran away to Rajasthan in August 2022 and got married in a temple. She started staying in Thane. Later, her brother Vivek Tiwari hacked her mobile and came to know about her location. He later forcefully admitted her to Chaitanya Mental Hospital and told hospital authorities to conduct an IQ test.

 

The doctors conducted an IQ test and told Vivek Tiwari that her sister was in good health and sent her with him. He forcefully kept her at his residence at Mira Road. From January 3, 2023 she came to stay with her husband in Pune.

 

Vivek Tiwari said his mobile had been stolen and his brother started using the former’s SIM card. The complainant’s bank details were on the SIM card. After the complainant was admitted to Chaitanya Hospital, her mobile was being used by her brother. During the period, her brother withdrew money many times from her account. He also transferred ₹4.19 lakh from her account to their parents’ account and cheated her. He did this to mentally harass her and make her financially unstable and force her to leave her husband, the complaint states. The Hadapsar police have registered an FIR and transferred it to the Kothrud police station.
