Manipur: CM appeals to all to start dialogue to end crisis
Imphal, Dec 25 (UNI)- Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday appealed to all to start dialogue and peace initiatives to resolve the crisis in Manipur.After the crisis started in May, except in two districts out of 16, normalcy has returned.
It takes time to resolve a crisis, and the government does not want to use force, he added while interacting with the media during the release of the government calendar and diary at the CM Secretariat. Biren said all people living in Manipur have to live together, and on the occasion of Christmas and the coming New Year, people should respect the concept of oneness and peace.
Some people can’t force their will on the masses, and people who want peace are not able to openly voice their opinions due to fear of such people, Biren said.
There was a report of the burning of medicines and medical instruments worth over Rs 60 lakhs at Kangpokpi by Kuki, who were blocking the national highway as the government announced a decision to allow the movement of vehicles on Sunday. Chief Minister said the government will take action.
Biren also assured to take action against those who illegally plant poppy plants. He said police destroyed poppy at various places, including Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts, and if necessary, assistance can be taken from the Indian Air Force to destroy poppy.
