Pune : Policenama online  – The passenger service on the 5-km Vanaz to Garware College stretch of Vanaz to Ramwadi section of the Pune Metro is going to begin in the new year. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation has made all the arrangements.

The commissioner of Pune Metro Rail Safety is going to inspect the stretch in the first week of January. Then, Puneites’ dream of passenger service will be fulfilled. The traffic on the Phugewadi to PCMC office stretch is also likely to begin.

The work on the 32-km metro route including Vanaz to Ramwadi and Pimpri Chinchwad to Swargate is underway. The stretches of Vanaz to Garware College and Phugewadi to PCMC office have been declared as priority routes. The work of escalators, stations and electric supply has been completed.

A trial run was held on the Vanaz to Garware College stretch in July. In January 2020, a trial was held on the stretch between Sant Tukaram Nagar and PCMC office. After receiving the safety certificate, the corporation will inform the state government.

There are eight stations on the Vanaz to Shivajinagar court stretch. They are Vanaz, Anand Nagar, Ideal Colony, Nal Stop, Deccan Gymkhana, Sambhaji Garden, Riverside area and PMC office.

The stations equipped with modern facilities have been set up. Some stations are located at the centre of the road. The cultural ethos of Pune will be reflected in the architecture of the stations.
