MLA Sunil Tingre | Permission granted for relocating Buddha Vihar at Vishrantwadi Chowk; Traffic congestion on road going to Dhanori-Lohegaon will disappear
PUNE : MLA Sunil Tingre | Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar has given permission for shifting of Buddha Vihar located at Vishrantwadi Chowk. The Buddha Vihar is going to be transferred to the area reserved for water works and playground. This will result in solving the traffic congestion issue on the road going to Dhanori-Lohegaon.
This information was given by Wadgaonsheri MLA Sunil Tingre. For many years, Sumedh Buddha Vihar is located at Vishrantwadi Chowk. Since the Buddha Vihar occupies a lot of space, commuters going towards Dhanori and Lohegaon areas had to face traffic problems. Hence, local residents were demanding that the Buddha Vihar should be relocated to solve traffic congestion in the area. MLA Sunil Tingre had staged an agitation in front of PMC head office to highlight pending problems in his constituency. He had sought relocation of Buddha Vihar to solve traffic congestion problems in the area.
Later, the civic administration started making the plan to relocate the Buddha Vihar. Addl commissioner Vikas Dhakne had conducted a meeting of all officials. A decision had been taken to relocate the Buddha Vihar to the 200 sq metre area of the reserved area for water work and playground. Accordingly, the civic administration prepared a proposal and sent it for civic chief’s nod. Tingre said that the civic chief approved the proposal on Tuesday. Accordingly, the Buddha Vihar will soon be relocated and the traffic congestion problems in the area will be solved.
Tingre said that Buddha Vihar President Rajiv Bengle, City Engineer Prashant Waghmare, civic official VG Kulkarni, Superintendent Engineer Rohidas Gavhane of building construction department, Bipin Shinde, Mira Sabnis, Sanjay Dharav and SRA department had cooperated to find a solution to traffic congestion in the area.
“The traffic congestion problem in Vishrantwadi chowk is a serious issue. After the Buddha Vihar is relocated, vehicles going towards Lohegaon-Dhanori can commute without any hindrance. Tenders will be floated for constructing a flyover at the chowk and after the flyover is constructed, the traffic problems in the area will be solved on a permanent basis,” said Sunil Tingre.
