Pune: Policenama online – Mumbai Mantralaya News | Sangeeta Davre, the wife of a policeman, who had tried to end her life by consuming poison outside Mantralaya, died during treatment. She was being treated at the Sassoon Hospital. When Sangeeta’s husband was working in the Mumbai police department, he had suffered an accident. Sangeeta Davre had alleged that her husband was not given proper treatment by the doctors. She had sent a complaint seeking action against the doctors. Since no action was taken on her complaint, she had tried to end her life by consuming poison outside Mantralaya. (Mumbai Mantralaya News)
Sangeeta Davre’s husband Hanumant Davre was working in the Mumbai police department. When he was doing nakabandi on Palm Beach Road, a speeding Innova car had broken the barricades. Hanumant Davre’s legs were crushed by the car and he had received serious injuries on his hands and legs. The car driver was drunk. Sangeeta had demanded strict action against the driver.
However, no action was taken against him. Sangeeta had sought action against the car driver. Even after she met senior officers and leaders, no action was taken against him. The Nerul police let off the driver instead of taking action against him. Hence, Sangeeta Davre was dejected. She threatened to kill herself when she realised that she was not getting justice from the police department, where her husband was working. The state government did not take her threat seriously. Hence, she tried to kill herself by drinking poison outside Mantralaya.
Sangeeta’s husband is yet to recover from the accident. Since he had suffered serious injuries on his hands and legs and due to lack of adequate treatment, he is not able to walk even many years after the mishap. He has paid his medical bills so far. Sangeeta had alleged that the police department had not cleared the file of her husband’s medical bills. Hence, she had threatened to die by suicide. Finally, she passed away on Wednesday. Since a policeman’s wife did not get justice, this incident has provoked sharp reactions from the people.
