NCP leader and former state minister Eknath Khadse confirmed on Thursday that he has tested positive for Covid-19.

“My corona test has come positive but I am in good health. I request all those people who came in contact with me over the last six days to get themselves checked”.

Khadse had ended his four-decade-long association with the BJP and joined the NCP in August 2020.

Earlier, Khadse’s daughter-in-law Raksha Khadse tested positive for the virus. She confirmed on twitter saying, “Due to sudden deterioration in my health last night, doctors suggested me to take a COVID-19 test. My test reports have come positive, those who have come in contact with me in the last eight days should test themselves for the virus. My health is stable and I urge everyone to take care of their well-being”.

Monday was the sixth consecutive day Maharashtra reported more than 3,000 Covid-19 infections. From February 10 to 15, it recorded 3,451; 3,297; 3,670; 3,611; 4,092 and 3,365 cases respectively, triggering fear of fresh infections in the state.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray would preside over the meeting in which Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Health Minister Rajesh Tope would be present.

Speaking to reporters in Aurangabad, Pawar said, “There has been a sudden spurt in Coronavirus cases, the chief minister has convened a meeting…we may have to take some harsh measures for which people need to be ready.”
