NCP MLAs Sunil Tingre and Chetan Tupe demand starting of scheme of 40 per cent rebate on property tax
Pune : Policenama online – Pune PMC Property Tax | An agitation was held on the steps of Legislative Council on behalf of MVA demanding that the state government should re-start the scheme of giving 40 per cent rebate in the property tax and abolish penalty tax on the properties. A petition was submitted to CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. (Pune PMC Property Tax)
The agitation was carried out by NCP’s Wadgaon Sheri MLA Sunil Tingre and MLA of Hadapsar Chetan Tupe. The residents were being given 40 per cent rebate in the property tax since the Panshet floods. However, the civic body started sending notices to property holders about dues pending from 2018 via SMSes. Since the rebate has been discontinued and dues must be paid, this is proving burdensome for people. Hence, Tingre and Tupe highlighted the demand through their agitation that the 40 per cent rebate should be given to property holders.
“The PMC levies a fine of 1.5 times the property tax on illegal properties and three times on commercial properties. This fine amount is very high. The state government had taken a decision to abolish the fine and the PMC should also do the same,’’ the MLAs said. Shirur MLA Ashok Pawar, MLA Tingre and Purandar MLA Sanjay Jagtap submitted a petition to CM Shinde.
