Nine, including Pune-based police officer, booked for duping Mahabaleshwar-based hotelier of Rs 1.50 crore

Satara: A Rs 1.50-crore cheating case has come to light in Mahabaleshwar. Nine people, including the Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl SP, CID, Pune), have been booked for duping a hotelier at the hill station by promising to get a wine shop licence.
The victim has been identified as Hemant Balkrishna Salvi. SP (State CID-Pune Division) Devashree Mohite, lodged a complaint at the Wai Police Station on Monday. Accordingly, Addl SP Shrikant Kolhapure, along with Hanumant Vishnudas Munde, Vivek Pandit, Nilesh Patel, Abhimanyu Dedge, Rajan Suryabhan Sonwane, Shakeel Haji Maqbool Syed, Najma Shaikh and Balu Puri have been booked.
According to the details, (CID Pune Division) Addl SP Srikant Kolhapure, Hanumant Munde and Vivek Pandit promised Hemant Salvi, a businessman on Sabne Road in Mahabaleshwar, that he would get a wine shop licence. He was told that the licence would cost Rs 2.50 crore. Therefore, they took Rs 1.50 crore in cash and cheques from time to time at various places in Wai through Sanjay Bajirao Salunkhe.
But the hotelier has not got the license till date. After realising the financial fraud, Sanjay Salunkhe lodged a complaint with the Additional Director General of Police, Pune. After examining the application, an order was issued to register the case. Thus, nine people have been booked.
