Online Gaming | Centre issues Safe Online Gaming Advisory to save children from dangers of online gaming
Pune: Policenama online – Online Gaming | The central government issued the Safe Online Gaming Advisory late on Friday night for parents and teachers to save children from the dangers of online gaming.
It includes guidelines such as not furnishing personal information while downloading a game; not to interact with any unknown person using webcam, online chat or send private messages.
The advisory has been issued to all states, education boards, and CBSE by the Union Ministry of Education. Cyber experts have observed that cellphone and internet use by children has increased during the lockdown for online classes. Children may fall victim to cyberbullying.
Important points in the advisory
- Children should be made to understand that danger of coming in contact with people with bad cyber conduct increases, if they provide personal details while downloading online games or use webcam or online chat with unknown persons.
- If anything wrong happens while playing an online game, immediately stop there, take a screenshot and report the matter to the police.
- Children should not furnish personal details while opening an account online for entertainment purposes.
- Parents should check the age rating of the games children play.
- Encourage children to reply to threatening messages. Record harassing messages. Report such matter to the site manager.
- Parents should use OTP-based payment while buying an app for children.
- Parents should advise children not to download software or apps from unknown sites. Observe caution while clicking on links, images and pop-ups. They could contain malware.
- Children should use computer, internet at home.
- Monitor children’s behavior. In the case of unusual behaviour, take them in confidence and understand their issues.
