‘Oxytop’ company owner booked for duplicating Manikchand Oxyrich label

Pune: The owner of ‘Oxytop’ company has been booked for selling packaged water by duplicating the renowned packaged mineral water brand ‘Manikchand Oxyrich’.

The incident took place at Waki Khurd, Chakan in May 2023. A complaint has been lodged at the Chakan police station by Shobha Rasiklal Dhariwal (68), resident of Koregaon Park and director, RMD Foods and Beverages, which manufactures Manikchand Oxyrich mineral water. A complaint has been registered against Mahendra Gore, resident of Waki Khurd, Chakan.

According to the police, complainant Shobha Dhariwal noticed that packaged drinking water bottles resembling her company’s brand were being sold at various places in May 2023. Following an inquiry, she came to know that these water bottles were being sold by the Oxytop company owned by Mahendra Gore. She dialed the trade enquiry number and sought more details. She realised that the company did not have any official permission to use the trade mark.

Accused Gore owns Mahindra Enterprises, which manufactures the packaged water bottles and sells them knowingly by duplicating the Manikchand Oxyrich brand. ‘Oxytop’ resembles the letter font, size and style of the Manikchand Oxyrich brand. This amounted to cheating consumers, stated the complaint.

The Chakan police are investigating the matter.
