Amit Shah | Party believes in change: Amit Shah on denying tkts to Shettar, Savadi

Bengaluru, Apr 22 (UNI) Amit Shah | Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP’s chief electoral strategist, on Saturday said the party believes in change, and Jagdish Shettar and Laxman Savadi were given an explanation as to why the party decided to deny them tickets for the May 10 assembly election in Karnataka.

“We are not like Rajiv Gandhi who changed Virendra Patil at the airport. We are not like that. These leaders (Shettar and Savadi) are all honourable and untarnished. We explained to them the reasons for their ticket denial,” he said, addressing Karnataka Roundtable 2023 organised by a private channel here in the city.

He was responding to a question on a few BJP heavyweights including Shettar and Savadi quitting the party and joining Congress after they were denied tickets in the forthcoming state elections.

Shah said Shettar and Savadi’s exit will not have any impact on the party as none of its vote bank has gone anywhere, and the party stands united.

“We will form the government with full majority. When the party makes tough decisions, sometimes the leader accepts it and many leave,” he said.

Shah also mocked the Congress by saying that the Congress is unsure of winning the election by itself as it thinks that it would win the election because of Shettar.

There should be no assumption that they were tainted, citing the need for new blood and a generational shift, he added. UNI BDN SSP
