PCMC | Citizens, corporators cheated by using Civic Chief Rajesh Patil’s WhatsApp profile, fake ID

Pimpri : Policenama online – Close on the heels of an extortion case, in which ransom was demanded using DCM Ajit Pawar’s name. Now, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil’s photo has been used as a WhatsApp profile and corporators, citizens have been cheated. (PCMC)

PCMC IT Officer Nilkanth Poman lodged a complaint with the Pimpri Chinchwad police cyber cell for misuse of profile and creating of a fake ID.

According to the complaint lodged by Poman, an unidentified person sought help from corporators and citizens by creating a fake ID of Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil on WhatsApp cellphone number 7524891151. Then the person sought help during online chatting. Another cellphone number 7977510080 has also been used for this purpose.

Cheating cases are happening in Pimpri Chinchwad. Financial help is sought from citizens and corporators during online chatting using a fake profile of the municipal commissioner. Hence, a complaint has been lodged with the police.

Cautioning people about such incidents, Rajesh Patil said, “Contact the police if someone demands something using fake profile ID. Citizens should not indulge in any financial deals with such people. It is being cautioned that civic officials, officers and citizens should take care that they could be cheated through fake IDs.”
