Pune : Policenama onlinePMC Integrated Command and Control Centre | The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will establish an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) for city planning and disaster management to monitor its operations while coordinating with its departments and the PMPML, the city police and Pune Smart city. Deputy municipal commissioner Pratibha Patil will head the centre.

Various services and facilities are provided in the city by the civic body. Development works, repair and maintenance activities are continuously carried out by the PMC’s road, sewage, electrical, anti-encroachment, water supply, security, trees and garden, health and solid waste departments. All departments are interrelated for such works. For example, if the sewage department is doing some work, the water supply, electrical and road departments are also involved. While conducting these tasks, the traffic department also comes into the picture as traffic flow is disturbed. It becomes difficult on a daily basis to co-ordinate among various departments due to the enormity of operations. Hence, minor mishaps or traffic jams take place on a daily basis.

In this backdrop, municipal commissioner and administrator Vikram Kumar decided to establish the ICCC. A combined software for the same is being developed. This will help to monitor operations, co-ordinate among all the departments and finish works before deadlines. Land acquisition and IT department head Pratibha Patil will be the nodal officer of the ICCC.

The cell will play an important role in disaster management. Disaster management office Ganesh Sonune will be the assistant nodal officer of the cell. Junior engineer Dnyaneshwar Sonwalkar will be the co-ordinator of the cell.
