Police Arrest Trio for Beating up Bus Driver

Pune : Policenama online  The police have arrested three people who had beaten up a bus driver for not halting his bus which was heading to Kolhapur. They allegedly injured the bus driver with a wooden stick. The incident took place at 10 pm at Rama Point near the old ghat in Katraj on Wednesday.

The trio Santosh Vasant Salunkhe, a resident of Mungse building, Raje Chowk, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Akshay Anantrao Gaikwad, a resident of Santosh Nagar, Katraj and Anil Balkrishna Pawar, a resident of Satara have been arrested in this connection.

The bus driver Ajit Tatyaba Kadam, a resident of Satara, has lodged a complaint at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.

 

Elections for seats reserved for OBCs will be held for general category candidates on January 18

Mumbai : Policenama online  A new controversy is likely to erupt over the issue of reservations for Other Backward Classes. The Election Commission has decided to conduct the elections on January 18 by allowing general category candidates to contest from seats which had been reserved for OBCs.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has been continuously blaming the MVA government for denying reservations to the OBCs. With the announcement of the elections, the opposition has got a good opportunity to target the state government.

By-elections are going to be held on December 21 for 106 nagar panchayats, two zilla parishads, 15 panchayat samitis and 4,000 gram panchayats. The court had asked the Election Commission to announce its decision about seats reserved for OBCs in seven days.

Elections are going to be held on January 18 by allowing general category candidates to contest from for seats reserved for OBCs. The results of the elections being held on December 21 and January 18 are going to be announced together. Hence, candidates will have to wait till January 19, 2022 for the results.
