President Droupadi Murmu | Prez visit to DSSC cancelled due to bad weather, leaves for Delhi

Chennai, Feb19 (UNI) – President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) at Wellington in Coonoor in the hilly Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu was cancelled today due to bad weather conditions following which she left for New Delhi.


Official sources, said the President, who was in Tamil Nadu on a two-day visit, was scheduled to visit DSSC by a helicopter where she is scheduled to lay a wreath at the War Memorial in Wellington and address the defence staff at the DSSC.


However, her programme was cancelled due to poor visibility in view of heavy mist and fog.

Later, she left for New Delhi from Coimbatore. Ms Murmu was seen off at the airport by Tamil Nadu Governor R.N.Ravi, IT and Digital Services Minister T.Mano Thangaraj, Coimbatore District Collector, senior police and other officials.


Ms Murmu, who arrived in Madurai yesterday on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu, her first after becoming the President, offered darshan at the famous Meenkashi Amman Temple and prayed for the well being of all.


From Madurai, she reached Coimbatore by air and participated in the Mahasivaratri celebrations at Isha Yoga Foundation last night.


After an overnight stay, she was scheduled to visit DSSC today. Since it was cancelled due to bad weather, she left for New Delhi around noon.
