PUNE : Policenama online  – Pune PMC Property Tax | After the state government decided to continue the 40 per cent rebate in the property tax, the PMC had agreed to provide tax bills from May1. But now, there is a change in the plan. The bills will now be sent from May 15 in the online mode and a proposal has been sent to the municipal commissioner for his approval. Since the bills will be sent late, the rebate will be given from May 15 till July 15, the proposal states. (Pune PMC Property Tax)

The state government decided to continue with the 40 per cent rebate in property tax for Puneites. The 15 per cent rebate being given on repairs and pending dues has been reduced to 10 per cent. Hence, the civic body will have to prepare 12.5 lakh new property tax bills. Initially, the bills will be sent in the online mode and later, printed bills will be sent by post. A period of 20 to 25 days is needed to prepare bills.

The PMC levies property tax according to the reasonable rental value. Since the rates are different in various areas, the civic body will have to change all details. From 2019, since the rebate was cancelled, of 1.67 lakh properties, 40 per cent dues have been added to the bills of 97,000 properties. Hence, it is necessary to make changes in these bills. Since the PMC thought a decision will be taken by the state government by March 31, it had said that bills will be given on May1.

However, since the government took time in taking a decision, the planning of issuing bills will have to be changed. Since the bills are going to be sent late, the rebate will be applicable from May 15 to July 15, the proposal states.
