Pune BJP News | BJP to carry out organisational changes; New city unit chief and two district presidents to be elected by Saturday

PUNE: Pune BJP News | The BJP is going to carry out organisational changes in the district unit. Plans are being made to elect new chiefs of the party’s city and district units. The election process is going to be completed till May 20 and the domination of Maval taluka is likely to end. (Pune BJP News)

The three-year tenure of city unit chief Jagdish Mulik has come to an end. The names of former mayor Murlidhar Mohol, MLA Siddharth Shirole, Ganesh Bidkar, Dheeraj Ghate, former MLA Medha Kulkarni are doing the rounds. Senior leaders are trying to choose a suitable and competent person for the city president’s post. Discussions have been held with various leaders and the new chief will be chosen against the background of forthcoming elections.

While there are many candidates for the city unit’s post, the party is facing a dilemma while choosing the district president. Two district presidents are going to be elected and the district has been split into two parts i.e. north and south

North Pune consists of Junnar, Ambegaon, Khed, Shirur, Haveli, Maval talukas and south Pune consists of Mulshi, Bhor, Velha, Purandar, Baramati, Indapur and Daund talukas.

Apart from Daund MLA Rahul Kul, the party does not have an MLA in the district. Earlier, it was being said that Maval was the traditional stronghold of the BJP. Shirur and Maval had MLAs of BJP but the BJP has lost both these constituencies. The district unit of the party was being headed by a person from Maval taluka. When Sanjay Bhegde lost in 2019 elections, he was the chief of the district unit. Sanjay Bhegde’s close aide Ganesh Bhegde is the chief of the district unit. The candidature of Sharad Butte Patil from Khed, district General Secretary Ad Dharmendra Khandre, Pradeep Kand and Rahul Kul from Daund is being discussed.
